This week on the PRO-File podcast I am so excited to share the story of my friend and former teammate, the one and only James West. The man known as James “Wild” West is one of the best linebackers in Winnipeg Blue Bomber history. James West was introduced to the CFL after a failed attempt to crack the Oakland Raiders, he made his trek North to play his first 3 seasons of his CFL career with the Calgary Stampeders. He decided to sign as a free agent with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and soon found a home in Winnipeg as one of the anchor stones of one of the stingiest defences ever. Long overdue, James West was inducted into the CFL hall of fame in 2016.
With all his success and accolades, you would think that James West had been playing football since he was old enough to walk. What if I told you that he didn’t start playing football until he went to college? James grew up in the football hotbed of Texas and after his father passed away tragically in a cave in, his mother moved him and his 6 siblings to Houston to begin their new life.
The man known as “Wild” on the field has now completely turning his life around and, as part of the FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes), has made more of an impact off the field as he ever did on it. James West has made 4 trips to Africa to date as an ambassador of FCA. If you are a fan of James and would like to help him with his efforts in Africa, you can make a donation by clicking HERE
This interview is like the man himself, motivational, inspirational and spiritual. Enjoy the amazing story of a man who didn’t even play high school football and now he is in the CFL Hall of Fame…James West.
